I did my last presentation as school captain for this year, before handing over the reigns to next year's student leaders.
This blog is for my family and friends overseas to keep up to date with my life in Australia. Feel free to post comments - I would love to hear from you. You can email me at harvey@digimatter.com

Pics of sis
When I was little, I remember saying I wanted to be a 'torographer'. I have graduated from taking pics of my toys to doing some fancy stuff in Photoshop and Instagram. In a way, I am still taking pictures of my toys... my latest is my sister!

Glamping
This year, we upgraded our accommodation so we didn't have to rough it sleeping on self-inflating air mattresses. We 'glamped' out with proper off-the-ground camp beds with sheets, blankets and pillows. Mum thought I might want to sleep under the moonlight outside the tent with the rest of my friends. Boy was she wrong! It was my little sister's first camping trip, so the three of us squeezed in together.

Mo Day
This was a fundraising idea I had for Movember. Everybody came to school wearing a moustache and donated a gold coin for the privilege.

Movember
We had a fundraising festival at our school. I worked on the drinks stall where we made "spiders". We raised $1000 just on our stall! I went to the "beauty parlour" stall to get my mo and goatee. This is how my sister reacted to my new facial hair.
Busking
I've done a bit of busking lately, a couple of times with my guitar. When we had a garage sale, I busked to get people in to buy stuff. I ended up making more money from the busking than from the sale! Another time, I sat and played in front of a closed shop while mum & Tilly watched me from the cafe next door. I made over $50 in an hour!
Then last weekend, my piano teacher asked me to do some busking to advertise her school.

Dress as a Scientist Day
For a school fundraiser, we had a Dress as a Scientist Day which meant that most people turned up in white lab coats. I decided to go as a computer scientist (or nerd)!

Olympics? What Olympics?
I'm in England for more important stuff than the Olympics! I'm here to do a Beatles pilgrimage to Liverpool. This is me outside the Beatles museum, which had John and Yoko's famous bed-in protest that I joined in.
In my txt to mum, I said: "Liverpool was gr8. on da magical myst tour we went 2 ringo, paul and johns childhood homes and penny lane and strawberry fields and ended up at the cavern. In the cavern it was so loud coz dere was live music all day and night. I even got to play on da piano in dere. da beatles museum was epic and got heaps of da beatles things in there like guitars and more. To finish the beatles experience off we booked 1 more tour. We actually went INTO their childhood homes and i played on paul mccartneys piano. In liverpool there was even a yellow submarine dat went in water. got heaps of memorabilia."
I also visited the film studios where the Harry Potter movies were made. Here I am outside Hogwarts, and catching the Knight Bus.
This is me with Hedwig - just kidding. I went to a park for birds of prey, so got to handle an owl and ask them how they know where to deliver letters.
I also went to a castle like Hogwarts except it was called Warwick Castle.

This is Big Brother
I got to meet my little sister Tilly before I jetted off to England for 4 weeks. She was supposed to arrive on Sunday 1st July but made a surprise entrance a few days early. She just couldn't wait to see me!

School stuff
This is me at my school athletics carnival crossing the finish line.

I was feeling less active for our school's Crazy Hair Day, so I sprayed my hair an old age silver.
This is a digital portrait I created representing myself. In a parent-teacher interview, my teacher said I had a good sense of humour.
I get called Captain Harvey because I am the school captain. Recently, I had to give a speech to parents who were thinking about sending their children to my school.Sunday, May 27, 2012
A Brazilian birthday
For mum's birthday, we went to a Brazilian restaurant, as it's been a year since we were in Rio.
Although they had feijoida on the menu (a beans and rice dish), I had chicken drumettes instead. Then they had samba dancers and a steel drum band come marching through the restaurant.

Royal Easter Show
Me and mum tackled the Royal Easter Show this year. I got 3 showbags, all to do with magic and gags. I like the stalls with all the gadgets.
Even with all the people that were there, we managed to bump into my friend Lachie and his mum! We went on a couple of rides together. We also saw some awesome skating demos at the show, and the usual animal stuff.

My 11th birthday

It wasn't hard deciding on a theme for my party this year. We had cake for afternoon tea in the park.

Then we wandered over to dinner at a teppanyaki restaurant with me and 11 of my school friends. This is where they cook food over a hotplate and throw it at you.

I got treated like a celebrity, I had my name written in salt on the hotplate, and also got a special dessert.

Parasailing
Mum bought me this awesome adventure for a Christmas present, and I got to share it with a friend. It was a bit windy and scary but we got great views of Sydney Harbour!

New Year on the north coast
Mum and I stayed at a holiday house with friends in a sleepy coastal town. The town is kind of famous for its old-fashioned cinema where the projectionist's son, Baz Luhrmann, went on to be a movie director and made Strictly Ballroom, Moulin Rouge and is now filming the Great Gatsby in Sydney.
The town is also where the entertainer Bob Hope made a crash landing in 1947. He had to stay in the town while his plane was being fixed and did a comedy show in the local town hall.
There were lots of boys my age to hang out with. We went to the movies and saw The Adventures of Tintin.
We went to the skate park.
We played our guitars and sang.
We went to beach a lot, boogie boarded, made sand castles, and played beach cricket on New Years Day.
Mum and I drove into the main town one day and found this place called Extreme Velocity. where they put you in a wind tunnel to "fly".
